ShareX Configuration Summary

After Capture Settings

• Save image to file
• Copy to clipboard
• No after upload tasks

Note: Tasks Settings > Region Capture > ONLY CHECK OFF “Select restrict region capture and cursor within the active monitor” to stop it from screenshotting your screen and desktop (background) together

Screenshot Save Location

Path: C:\Users\Danish\Pictures\Screenshots

Access Method: ShareX → Application Settings (F12) → Paths tab → Screenshots folder

Filename Patterns

Name Pattern for Capture or Clipboard Upload

Use this format:

%mo-%d-%y %h.%mi.%s%pm

Result example: 09-22-2025 02.11.45PM.png

Name Pattern for Window Capture

%mo-%d-%y %h.%mi.%s%pm

Result: 09-22-2025 02.11.45PM.png (ShareX prefix removed)

Auto-Detection Settings

Location: ShareX → Task Settings → Capture tab

• Auto detect windows: UNCHECKED
• Auto detect controls: UNCHECKED
• Result: Manual selection required (click and drag)

Timestamp Format Reference

Screenshot Behavior

• Trigger: Print Screen key or ShareX hotkey
• Action: Manual crosshair selection (no auto-window detection)
• Save: C:\Users\Danish\Pictures\Screenshots\09-22-2025 02.11.45PM.png

Hotkeys

Press spacebar after selecting range or Fullscreen to complete your screenshot. Turn off any destination settings before saving.
